CCL Weather Policy
Policy
Ohio weather can be unpredictable. Players and parents should be diligent and check local weather forecast prior to games and practices. All practices and games will continue on as schedules unless we experience sever weather (thunder, lightning, excessive heat, etc.) Coaches have the ability to cancel practices if they believe it is unsafe to be outdoors. CCL may cancel or postpone games depending on weather and field condition.
Evacuation
-If lightning is occurring or a thunderstorm is near, all players, personnel, and spectators need to get to a safe structure/shelter.If an enclosed, well-constructed building is not available, people should return to their vehicles.
Thirty-Minute Rule
-If lightning or thunder occur, games and practices must immediately stop. It is REQUIRED to wait at least 30 minutes from the last lightning strike or last thunder is heard. If another flash/thunder occues again, the clock resets to another 30 minutes.
Prevention of Heat Illness
We will be following the Heat Index Policy set by the OHSAA. Heat/humidity should be measured 30 minutes prior to activity and throughout the activity.
- Heat Index under 95: Water breaks & cooling towels optional
- Heat Index 95-99: Water, ice, towels available, mandatory water breaks every 30 minutes for 10 minutes
- Heat Index 99-104: Continue 95-99 index rules, alter uniforms/equipment, reduce time or move indoors
- Heat Index 104+: Suspend all outdoor activity
Cancelation Policy
The decision will be made by CCL to cancel/reschedule a game by 7am the morning of the game. Games will be rescheduled for either Sunday or during the week. If a game is canceled for U6 that game will not be rescheduled.
